Psychiatric Medication Management In Denver

If your medication is not working, the side effects are wearing you down, or you are tired of starting over with a new prescriber, Mind Spa's psychiatric team builds one plan with you and stays with it.

How visits work. Your first visit is in person at our Greenwood Village clinic. Some follow-ups are available by telehealth for patients located in Colorado, and some, including visits for certain controlled-substance prescriptions, must be in person.

Medication Should Not Feel Like Guesswork

Maybe you have tried three or four medications. Maybe each one came with a new side effect, a rushed appointment, and a refill that never felt like a plan. Maybe you stopped saying how you really felt because nothing seemed to change.

Medication works best as one part of a plan, with a provider who knows your history and explains every change. That is how we run medication management at Mind Spa.

What You Can Expect

  • A full 90-minute psychiatric evaluation before anything is prescribed or changed
  • One small team that knows your history, so you are not starting over
  • A clear reason for every new medication, dose change, or taper
  • Follow-ups in person or by telehealth, depending on what the visit requires
  • Coordination with therapy, TMS, ketamine, and HBOT when they fit

Who Manages Your Medication

Three psychiatric prescribers working as one team. Meet everyone on our about page.

Dr. Joseph Horvath, DO

Board-certified psychiatrist. A Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) is a fully licensed physician.

Marlen Lukatsky, PMHNP

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), an advanced practice nurse licensed to diagnose and prescribe.

Kylie Hansen, PMHNP

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), an advanced practice nurse licensed to diagnose and prescribe.

When Medication Has Not Been Enough

Most insurance plans, including TRICARE, cover TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) for depression only after documented antidepressant trials. If several medications have not helped, your history may already meet those criteria.

Your provider reviews that history with you. If TMS fits, our team prepares and submits the prior authorization, so the medications that did not work still count toward what comes next.

Where Each Visit Happens

  2. What helped, what did not, and any side effects that made you stop
  3. Past diagnoses and records from previous providers, if you have them
  4. Your insurance card
  5. The questions you want answered

Medication Management FAQ

What if my current medication is not working?

Bring your full medication history to your evaluation. Your provider reviews what you have tried, at what doses, and for how long, then builds a plan with you. That can mean a medication change, adding therapy, or, if several antidepressants have not helped, discussing TMS or ketamine.

What should I bring to my first visit?

A list of every psychiatric medication you take now or have taken, with doses and roughly how long, plus what helped, what did not, and any side effects. Bring past records if you have them and your insurance card.

What is psychiatric medication management?

It is ongoing care from a psychiatric provider who evaluates you, prescribes medication when it fits, and monitors and adjusts it over time. At Mind Spa it is coordinated with therapy and interventional treatments.

Who prescribes at Mind Spa?

A board-certified psychiatrist, Dr. Joseph Horvath, DO, and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners (PMHNPs), Marlen Lukatsky and Kylie Hansen.

Do you offer telehealth visits?

Yes, for some follow-up visits, for patients located in Colorado. Your first visit is in person at our Greenwood Village clinic, and some visits, including visits for certain controlled-substance prescriptions, must be in person.

What conditions do you manage?

Depression and treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, anxiety disorders, OCD, bipolar disorder, and ADHD.

Is medication management covered by insurance?

Yes. We accept TRICARE (West Region), VA Community Care, CHAMPVA, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Medicare. Standard copays or coinsurance apply, and we verify your benefits first.

Do I have to take medication to get TMS or ketamine?

Not necessarily. Your provider recommends what fits your situation. Insurance coverage for TMS usually requires prior antidepressant trials, so your medication history matters for that decision.

Can I reduce or stop my medication over time?

Sometimes. Your provider adjusts or reduces medications when it is clinically appropriate. Never stop a psychiatric medication on your own, since some need to be tapered safely.
